Summary/Abstract: The aim of this article was to show how a critical edition of an Old Czech text can help to better understand some particular Old Czech words. Three hapax legomena (věvač, tek, občiřiti), preserved only in the oldest Czech Bible translation, were presented which contemporary historical dictionaries interpreted inaccuretly. Thanks to the critical edition Staročeská bible drážďanská a olomoucká it was possible to rethink those three words again in a context and reveal their correct meaning.
