Summary/Abstract: A review of The Wedding directed by Marcin Liber (Polski Theater in Bydgoszcz, premiere: 30.12.2013). The author takes a critical view of how Stanisław Wyspiański's drama modernized, combining up-to-date and traditional readings. Schreiber notes the subversion in the presentation of the characters, as well as many interesting stage effects. He regards many solutions as rather ham-fisted, however, and superficial. Despite the solid acting of the Bydgoszcz ensemble, the skillful construction of a gloomy atmosphere, and the exposing of current national problems, the reviewer believes that the play does not work as a "contemporary and personal vision" of The Wedding.
