Summary/Abstract: The author describes the role of the horse in contemporary sport and entertainment, outlining the dissonance between the natural movements of the animals and their images in the culture. Instead of oppressive exercises to achieve an imaginary ideal, at Zingaro Theater they adapt the training and the form of the performance to the particular horse. Bartabas, the creator of Zingaro, tries to draw the personality from the horse, to give it space for individual expression. Tomaszewska describes the training techniques and some typical acts involving the horses, as well as the relations between humans and animals in the arena.
