Summary/Abstract: Gatherings of Polish Lawyers and Economists have been held since 1887. Until the outbreak of World War I six meetings were convened – we learn from many publications of Warsaw Judiciary Gazette – including five regular ones: I in 1887 in Cracow; II in 1889 in Lviv, III in 1893 in Poznan, IV in 1906 in Cracow, V in 1912 in Lviv), an extraordinary one in 1894 in Lviv, and after the end World War I the next two meetings were called: VI in 1920 in Warsaw and VII in 1922 in Poznan). In Warsaw Judiciary Gazette publications we find information about the origins, the course, and the resolutions adopted by subsequent congresses. Gatherings of Polish Lawyers and Economists have become both a permanent forum for exchange of professional views and an opportunity to define the tasks and the role of lawyers in partitioned societies. Previous studies have shown that Polish legal circles, preparing for the creation of the Polish state, were ready to propose appropriate legislative solutions. Organized for over 25 years regular meetings of lawyers and economists from various partition districts imply – on the threshold of gaining independence by Poland – the existence of consolidated Polish legal circles.
