Academician Radomir D. Lukić – The Forerunner Of The Study Of Globalization In Serbia

Summary/Abstract: The Serbian and Yugoslav sociological community are undoubtedly indebted to academician Radomir Lukić(1914-1999) due to his works and academic activity. However, little attention has been given to his great sociological imagination, which was especially prominent in his 1957 textbook and published monograph dedicated to social changes, in which he wrote about the process of humankind unification, anticipating the notion of the globalization process, which would not be observed and named until several decades later. This paper presents the results of our research, conducted by means of the content analysis method, on the pioneer contribution of academician Lukić to the understanding of the globalization process (“humankind unification”) in the contemporary society.
