Cultural Reflections Of War Crisis: The Picture Of War In The 1990S Croatian Cinema

Summary/Abstract: This paper discusses how the war crisis affected the culture, especially on film as a specific cultural product and one of the most important segments of popular culture in general. In this regard, the paper considers the ways in which the war crisis shaped the film image of the war in Croatiaduring the 1990s. Special attention will be given to the cinematic image of the enemy, the hero, and the martyr. In addition to that, the paper discusses how the selected films represented the character of the war as well as who was marked as being responsible for the war. All these segments are considered through the prism of a wartime crisis.
