Summary/Abstract: In the realm of specific economic and political qualities of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the author examines the importance of a stable macroeconomic frame as the basis for economic growth, as well as for continued poverty reduction. On one hand the author examines the thesis about reduced macroeconomic stabilization in Bosnia and Herzegovina as a consequence of applied principles of the Wahington consensus which in turn thwarts economic development. On the other hand, author looks into internal insufficiencies of the Bosnian society such as: lack of political will, lack of macroeconomic knowledge/know-how, lack of efficient market institutions. Through examination of these factors author shows that the removal of all obstacles and incentive based economic development represents one of the prerequisites for adapting and accession to EU. Based on those examinations the author offers several macroeconomic recommendations for overcoming the problems of transitional recession. However, there are internal and external economic and political factors to be fulfilled to achieve economic sustainability and macroeconomic stability as synchronous processes for fulfilling standard transition economic-social prerequisites for joining EU. The author recommends macroeconomic stability as a way out from the transitional recession.
