Summary/Abstract: The article is focused on analysis of selected factors in the process of globalisation and their impact on the world economy. In a relevant context, the effects on international business are analysed, and taking the example of the South Korean economy, the authors point out the danger of underestimating the impact of globalisation of world markets in the process of adaptation of the Korean economy. The authors concentrate on the two fundamental pillars of the globalisation process – the liberalisation of international business and growth of international interdependency, emphasizing there is a certain interlinking and coherence between these pillars. Other issues analysed are impacts of globalisation on international regionalism and on the level of openness of national economies openness. The second part of the article is dedicated to the negative consequences of globalisation concerning less developed countries, increasing power of transnational corporations and existence of international institutions involved in resolving problems of national economies arising from globalisation. Authors emphasize the inevitability of a deep reform in these institutions, especially those involved in financial issues, as one of the critical prerequisites of successful adaptation to new conditions in international business in this developing decade. In the conclusion of the article authors characterize the global world economy as a result of process of globalisation while focusing on several factors of adaptation processes in new conditions on world markets.
