A Lost Transylvanian Painter…? Ursu Broină

Summary/Abstract: The current study aims at retraceing sequences from the biography of painter Ursu Broină, despite the small amount of available sources. The text begins with the few surviving woden churches that were atributed to him, with scattered informations from various 18th-19th century documents as well as with elements from the beginning of the 20th century. It later follows in Ursu Broina’s footsteps at Stoboru, Năsăud, Cubleşu, Tămaşa or Aghireşu, in an attempt to cristalise the personality of this Transylvanian painter, lost among the artists of the 18th century.
