Summary/Abstract: The restoration of the original frescoes from the Potlogi Prince Court Chapel enriched the Brancovan Art with a valuable ensemble. The narthex painting was almost completely hammered in 1904 when they repainted the church. The original paintings are preserved only in the narthex and the church porch presents general analogies with the ensembles from the Vâlcea County and more specific in Hurezi Monastery. These analogies are found in the representation of The Akathistos Hymn in the narthex and further The Last Judgment and The Poor Lazarus Parable in the porch. However the Potlogi Mural ensemble post 1700 has a unique iconography similar to the nave painting of the St. Apostles Hermitage from Hurezi dating 1700. The Hermitage was founded by John Archimandrite from the Hurezi Monastery. The Hermitage iconography themes: The Holy Trinity, The Dormition of the Theotokos, and The Pentecost, is retrieved in a princely private foundation. The Prince seemed to have understood and accepted the message of this iconography, reflection of the theological literature of those times. The literature aimed to defend and enforced the position of the Wallachian Church in a challenging moment.
