Summary/Abstract: Albrecht Wellmer's book Ethik und Dialog offers a good starting point for initiating a reflection on the state of critical theory after the Habermasian turn has made its impact. Habermas' s dialogical approach to ethics and epistemology, centered around the notion of rational consensus, has attracted great interest over the past few years as a bold and original attempt to overcome both the absolutist objectivism of pure transcendental, geschichtphilosophisch or positivist accounts of truth and justice on one hand, and the anthropological or sociological versions of relativism dominant today on the other.
