Summary/Abstract: Review is focused on relation between attachment theory and self-determination theory (SDT) in context of adults’ romantic – partner relationships. The purpose of this review is to summarise the existing research connecting SDT perspective of basic psychological need fulfilment with adult attachment. Basic psychological need fulfilment provides a motivational framework for better understanding to interpersonal behaviours of attachment in partner relationships. Review suggests future direction for research.
