Summary/Abstract: One of the most important Jewish feasts, since the oldest times, was Passover. However, many aspects concerning the evolution of Passover and the role it had in its early history remain obscure. Connections with fertility cults and New Year celebrations have been advocated as possible original contexts.2 In this article, however, I would like to focus only on one issue, namely on the possible period when the date for the feast, i.e., the night from the 14th to the 15th of Nisan, was established.
