Impact of IT technologies on changes of organization of claims settlement

Summary/Abstract: In the XXIst century, in the times of fast development of IT technologies, big part of insurance undertakings has entered into reorganization in the area of claims settlement. There has been observed a strong tendency towards centralization and computerization by the introduction of electronic files of damage, which has a lot of advantages: opportunity to browse documents at any time and in any place and their automatic sending, issuing of orders for appraisers and receiving reports from surveys, electronic documents’ backup. It should also be stressed that together with other positive results of the area of claims settlement centralization influenced by the IT achievements, there is the concentration of claims adjusters in one or several big claims settlement centers, a high level of processes and specialization’s standardization providing better use of human resources, more effective use of venue and IT equipment, lowering the costs of claims settlement.
