Summary/Abstract: The author describes a media hybrid in the form of an audiovisual amalgam. An important novelty within the media practice, which introduces an audiovisual amalgam, is the expansion of the technology of compilation, described by Jean Mitry and Calvin Pryluck. At the level of the material, an amalgam might combine two different transmission and rhetorical codes (Umberto Eco). The technology of compositing (Lev Manovich) used in digital media allows blurring of the mentioned codes and as a result of the process of reception the initiation of the search for the right form of perception. The author recalls the term "Ge-stell" (Martin Heidegger) and notes that in the case of media, technology is adjusted to the mental and physical capabilities of a human being. Audiovisual amalgam can be therefore considered as a possible world, in which the viewer encounters hitherto unrealised perceptions.
