Message of archbishop Feodosiy (1542–1551) as a source about the historical geography of the Novgorod diocese in the middle of the 16th century

Summary/Abstract: The article presents the results about the research of Novgorodian Archbishop Feodosiy’s messages, which contains the references to settlements, churches and monasteries of the Novgorodian diocese. The schematic map which shows the area of the field of Feodosiy’s activity as novgorodian archbishop was published. An explanation of historical and geographical analysis’s usage was provides. The terms of the major problems encountered in compiling the map was done. The characteristic of localities was made, their current status was identified. The conclusion about the relevance of historical-geographical method for the study of Archbishop Feodosiy’s activity was made.
