Demographic processes in the Rozhdestvenskiy parish of St. Petersburg province in 1792–1801 (based on the parish records)

Summary/Abstract: This article analyzes the processes of the natural movement of the population in the Rozhdestvenskiy parish. The chronological framework are outlined based on the fact that the favorites decade changed the status of the parish center. In 1797, the Rozhdestven town turned into a village. Comparative analysis of demographic indicators received for Rozhdestven, with those calculated for the other settlements coming, allowed to determine how changes in the status of settlements influenced the formation of the demographic behavior of its inhabitants. In the study of vital statistics were used parish registers deposited in the fund 19 of the Central State Historical Archive in St. Petersburg. The paper analyzed the distribution of monthly anniversaries of the births, marriages and deaths, the structure of mortality by cause of death.
