Progress towards sustainable development as a criterion of economic evaluations

Summary/Abstract: There are three evaluation criteria of economic policy pointed nowadays: effectiveness, efficiency and social fairness, which are the basis for the selection of different metrics used to determine the quality of the policy. Basing on the empirical theory and research the article indicates that such an assessment may be conducted solely on the basis of sustainable development. The concept of sustainable development is the basis for a new paradigm of development policy and should serve as an assessment of the policy in this regard. In the measures of sustainable development there is reflected each of the three criteria for the evaluation of economic policy. The analysis carried out in the article uses a synthetic indicator of sustainable development including 18 attributes of social, technological and environmental sustainability.
