On the Issue of Contents in Drama Direction

Summary/Abstract: More than four decades a study by teoretician and historian Alexander Noskovič was lying in the archives of the Theatre ad Film Cabinet.The author of the study is dealing with the meaning and functions of dramatic directing in theatre. Noskovič is reflecting on then fresh experience of the Slovak theatre with limiting applications of Stanislavskij creative method. Due to the fact that he belonged to former students and assistants of an outstanding afterwar Czech avant garde director Emil Fratišek Burian, he is exploring the reasons why theatrical culture was able to return back to understanding of directing as a routine arrangement of a play in a space. Noskovič is analyzing movements in the structure of a theatrical work of art, shifts in hierarchy of respective components in time indicated as „ greyness era“ (first half of fifties).
