Summary/Abstract: This article focuses on the green economy and its social side and gives an overview of skill needs in the green economy. For the most part, it attempts to examine the coherence between the green economy and employment and the role of VET and its potential in the green economy. It points out the social dimension of sustainable development and the green economy: its impli-cations for employment, training and decent work, opens up the meaning of green jobs and the skills needed in the green economy. The article is mainly based on the book “Green economy. What, why and how?” that has been published by Foundation for Lifelong Learning Development INNOVE, VET Observation Centre in Estonia
