Summary/Abstract: The study follows one common aim: The analysis of polemics between representatives of structuralist literary criticism and marxist aesthetics, especially debates on the model of structural literary history proposed by Jan Mukařovský in his study Polákova Vznešenost přírody, published in 1934. It is also taken into consideration that the constituent debates go beyond the frontiers of common defi nition of knowledge from a political point of view: between Structuralism and Marxism, consequently Idealism and Materialism. The study tries to show the fact that constituent theoreticians in their studies base a research on the special pattern of distinction between Idealism and Ideology (especially Kurt Konrad). This frontier of thinking allows us to specify the value of constituent theoretical approaches to the problem of literary history. The central distinction also permits to constitute possible principals of approaches to literary history, especially from the structuralist and marxist point of view.
