St Theodore’s Week and Mythological Model

Summary/Abstract: This paper studies a mechanism of mythological modeling of human behavior and the transformation of a mythological pattern into a system of social norms. This model has its male and female variants: the behaviors of man and woman have mythological explanation and are regulated through the main activities typical of men and women: ploughing and spinning. Their placing in the context of the mythology and ritual of St Theodore’s Week is due to the actualization of the mythology of celestial marriage through this popular feast.
