Summary/Abstract: The article presents the conventional approaches for investigating the Bulgarian mythological system. It shows that even nowadays Bulgarian mythology is perceived as a system of narratives produced in a particular ritual situation, narratives that convey essential knowledge. The author offers an alternative approach – myth, mythology, mythical and other notions of that semantic order could be defined as means (narrative, texts, discourses, images…) for exchanging information and communication between ours and beyond world. Myths are not a subject of the past only, they cannot be set only in the classical antiquity and thence to emanate more and more faint signals about their existence. Since the dawn of homo sapiens conscious existence, myths have been arising; functioning and fading away... even nowadays.
