Summary/Abstract: Proclos, philosopher and mathematician, was the last great representative of Neo-platonic School of Athens. For him, all that is divine is ineff able and unknowable to any human being. He names Divinity as „First Cause”, „First Principle” or „Supreme God”. This is beyond being and beyond any object of thought and yet the human mind intuits it and feels it undoubtedly. He not only created the Universe, but also the Gods who are „over” the world and in the world, being the „God” all „Gods”, the unit of all units. It is the „Principle of all causes”, the „Cause not caused” and can not be exhausted by various philological or philosophical speculation because it is not an object of judgment or intellection or discursive reason. It is good and exercises providence to secondary existences and transcends the beings for which he cares. His providence does not involve any reduction or limitation of its transcendence.
