Summary/Abstract: G. Lukács, A. Gramsci and the Frankfurt School reformed Marxism replacing economic with sexual and cultural determinism. The Institute of Social Research, set up in Frankfurt in 1923, employed Marxists such as Korsch, Horkheimer, Adorno, Fromm, Marcuse, who thought Marxist-Leninist doctrine did not explain evolutions in 20th-century capitalist societies and designed an alternative strategy for the Socialist movement. They merged Marx-ism with Freudian psychoanalysis, creating Cultural (or Freudo-)Marxism. Their critique, aimed at demolishing the traditional Christian foundations of Western society, is the origin of political correctness. Two case studies (Lunacek,Conchita Wurst) illustrate how Neomarxism is successfully implemented today.
