Orthodox Ecclesiology in the New European Context

Summary/Abstract: The contemporary world as we know it, even the Christian one, which at least goes Christian by name, leads its existence away from God and his Church. A solution to this major crisis could be found in a spiritual regeneration, triggered by Christianity. Nevertheless, the Christianity we have in view is not a theoretical one, existing only on paper, but one experienced through the Holy Spirit, in the Spirit of the Truth of Wisdom and Love. We do not only need a theory about God and about Jesus Christ, but also, and especially, a real experience with Him. It is only when we are united with Jesus Christ, that he becomes our permanent nourishment, and only when we become united within Him can we make a step forward to a fl awless communion with God and with the others, which is the essence of Christian life.
