The Understanding of the Orthodox Mission in Archbishop Anastasios Yannoulatos’ Writings

Summary/Abstract: The goal of this study is to highlight the contribution of Archbishop Anastasios Yannoulatos to the development of the Orthodox missionary ethos. Anastasios is one of the most insightful Orthodox analysts of religious pluralism and its consequences for Christian doctrine and Christian mission in the second half of the 20th century and the beginning of the 21st century. In the fi rst part of my work, it will be presented the theological understanding of mission in Christ’s way, in the second it will be analyzed the meaning and obligation of mission, the third part expounds the purpose and motive of mission, and fi nally in the fourth part, the Orthodox Mission in the 21st century will be summarized.
