The Eucharist - Reification and Update of God’s Love for Man

Summary/Abstract: What defi nes the divine origin of the Orthodox Church consists in the miracle of the embodiment and resurrection of Jesus Christ, the Redeemer. Without the embodiment of God’s Son, man would not have been able to take part in God’s life as, in this case, God and man would have been two beings with nothing in common. In the case of the embodiment, God’s Son shares our human nature. Without Christ’s resurrection, man would not have had the chance of eternal life and, in this case, neither would Christianism have raised above all philosophical and moral systems of the world, everything ending in eternal death. Not only that Jesus the Redeemer has done all these, but He has also left man the possibility of sharing eternal life during his very earthly existence, by means of the Holy Eucharistia. It represents the most intimate way of joining God to man and it is the essence of the Church, as in the shape of bread and wine, man joins Jesus Christ Himself, Dead and Redeemed and thus has the possibility of living eternally.
