Summary/Abstract: It is hard to find a proper work raising the problem of the old Middle Persian literature perception by today’s Iranian readers. The issue seems to be difficult to describe because of two overlapping problems: language (Middle Persian translated into New Persian) and inner-cultural “strangeness” of text (Middle Persian texts were composed by Zoroastrian clergymen and most of their contemporary recipients are Muslims). The article depicts some aspects of the two mentioned issues but, first of all, the author focuses on the question of Muslim reinterpretation of some old Zoroastrian motifs and their potential usefulness to make the New Persian translation of Mādīgān ī Yōšt ī Fryān much easier to understand by today’s Iranians.
