In search of traces of Sarmatian culture

Summary/Abstract: This article is devoted to the selected cultural aspects of literary translation. The subject matter of the article is the description of the strategies taken by Victor Mika in his translation of the best-known Alexander Fredro’s comedy into German. The author touches upon the issue of translatability of the cultural references in the shape of the names for the realities. The concrete translation endeavours are analysed on the basis of the examples in the work.
