From Russia Biezduchownosti the Polish Pustki duchowej. Some remarks on the translation of cultural studies

Summary/Abstract: The specific translation features of cultural-oriented texts are discussed. The alien character of such texts appears in special terminology, in ideas, which are the main subject of the cultural anthropology and the way these ideas are described. Authors of such texts force the recipients to use their cultural background knowledge. The translation problems of such texts are focused not only on transfer a cognitive information, but also an emotional information. It makes the translation of such texts close to literary translation. Theory is illustrated by examples from Russian-Polish translations.
