Summary/Abstract: Pál Závada’s successful novel takes place in the Slovakian diaspora in Hungary, the characters often use the minority dialect of the Slovakian language. Therefore the Slovakian translator of the book had to face not only the general difficulties of translation, but also this special intercultural situation. The study analyses the responses to this problem.
