Summary/Abstract: The author of the text states that „identity politics” is founded chiefly in the shared experiences of injustice of members of certain social groups and in their fight for political freedom. The second half of the twentieth century saw the emergence of large-scale political movements — second wave feminism, Black Civil Rights in the U.S., gay and lesbian liberation, and the American Indian movements. identity politics starts from analyses of oppression to recommend, variously, the reclaiming, redescription, or transformation of previously stigmatized accounts of group membership. Rapidly changing technologies and scientific inventions question defined identities and open endless possibilities for theorizing in this sphere.
