Summary/Abstract: A priority for the Bulgarian Customs Administration after Bulgaria's accession to the European Union was the uniform application of the EU cus-toms legislation, procedures and customs control tools in various aspects of our customs legislation. To this end the following objectives have been achieved: the structure and composition of the customs administration have been optimized, customs have been assigned new objectives and responsi-bilities - on the one hand, to provide not only revenue for the country’s state budget but also for the EU budget and, on the other - to protect the interests of the Community and its citizens from violations and distribution of smug-gled or counterfeit goods.
