Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the concept of the Other within the existential and phenomenological approach based on the theoretical researches of E. Levinas and S. Frank. The Other is viewed in terms of its correlation with the Subject, where the latter acts as a self-identity (E. Levinas) or an instant self-existence (S. Frank). The work reveals the peculiarities of the concept of the Other in the theories of the said philosophers. The Other was the main topic in the philosophizing of E. Levinas, and for him the fundamental otherness of the Other was important. To S. Frank the otherness can turn out to be the similarity of the Subject with the Other, and the Other itself acts as a way for rather than as an aim of the achievement of the incomprehensible by the Subject.
