Professional Education as a System in the Context of Modern Integration Processes

Summary/Abstract: This paper presents an attempt to look at an educational system by analyzing the environment it exists in. Educational system occupies a unique position among other subsystems of a society. On the one hand, it represents civilization since it deals with the duplication of certain types of potentially significant personalities meeting the requirements of modern society. On the other hand, it provides transmission of cultural values from generation to generation. Moreover, it must create conditions for self-realization of a person. The following conclusion is made: these criteria are met with the creation of a two-level structure of continuing professional education, allowing people to improve gradually their professional competences during their whole life, based on their general competences.
