Summary/Abstract: In the coming decades, the creation of a Green Economy will mark a line between two eras in all industrialised countries. At this very moment, the realisation of that Green Economy is a dominant social, political and organisational challenge. This essay looks at this challenge from a transition perspective. The main issue of this organising society in such a way that everyone is encouraged to contribute towards a Green Economy. With this essay we want to explore how we can favourably come out of this era. The Green Economy is a cyclic economy, which puts the accepted linear system of the economy on its head. Rebuilding our ‘scrap’ economy to a cyclic one does not happen on its own. On the contrary: it means a straight revolution. Several basic principles of business economy have to be changed and reformulated. In turn this will influence many connected mechanisms of society. In order to stimulate a smooth and swift transition towards a Green Economy, this document suggests seven principles, followed by some practical mechanisms linked to it. Prior to that, we will highlight some key concepts and briefly explain the urgency of this transition. We have written this document as a ‘working paper’ – a discussion piece – to contribute to a transition that we consider of tremendous value.
