Summary/Abstract: Miglena Nikolchina is a literary theorist, with research interests in feminist and social critical theory, as well as in psychoanalysis. She is also an author of poems and short stories. Prof. Nikolchina is the head of the Department of Theory of Literature at Sofi a University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and a lecturer at the MA programs in Literature and Gender Studies. She was the editor-in-chief of Literaturen vestnik (Literary Newspaper) in the 1990s. She is the former editor-in-chief of Altera – a journal for gender, language and culture – and currently the editor-in-chief of Altera academica, a journal in philosophy, social and human studies. Among her more important theoretical works are: Matricide in Language: Writing Theory in Kristeva and Woolf (1997; English edition 2004) and Born from the Head: Plots and Stories in Women’s Literature (2002). Her works are translated in English, Russian, Hungarian and Macedonian.
