Performance measurement in the Polish public sector in the context of New Public Management – authors` own research

Summary/Abstract: The main goal of the article is assessment of the efficiency, suitability and adequacy of the perfor-mance measurement systems used in public sector in Poland as well as verifying whether they meet requirements of the Public Finance Act. Moreover article is aimed at answering the question whether performance measurement systems introduced by Polish public sector fulfill the requirements of the New Public Management concept. The authors of the article, by means of the survey and interviews with managers and workers of public sector, evaluated usefulness of the information generated by the performance measurement system for the managers, staff and parent bodies of the public sector organ-ization. This article is one of the first in Poland on the issues discussed and is part of the current re-search on the implementation of the global concept of New Public Management.
