Summary/Abstract: The Unitarian Denomination in the Sixteenth Century Banat. The Unitarian denomination was an interesting constitutive element of the Banat religious landscape in the second half of the 16th century. Emerged at the initiative of remarkable personalities such as superintendent Paul Karádi, it gained more and more adherents between 1565 - 1585, being characterized by its tendency to borrow Judaic features. The institutional oganization under the form of a bishopric in such a radical manner was unique in Hungary at that time. Spread in towns like Timişoara and Caransebeş, it had little impact on the Romanian population, except for aristocratic elites, and it did not bring major changes in the traditional denominational framework of the area.
