Summary/Abstract: The review problematizes the question: What is literature? This guestion, although very important for the theory of literature, is most frequently being avoided. Those, who are raising this question, are offering either completely simple answers that satisfy inquisitives or they look upon this question from different perspectives in order to enlighten the imperfections of such answers, but also to point out the complexity of traditionally established understandings. How to recognise a literary text? How to observe: what is said in the text, what is it about, how is it formed, what is its message – how is understood what is said, what is it really about. How are those types of texts created? How to read those texts? We have searched for answers, however, we haven’t found the definite ones. If the purpose of traveling was final goal, we have probably travelled in vain, however, if the purpose of traveling is the traveling itself, the consideration of possibilities that a certain journey is offering to us, than, I believe, we have moved with a sense of purpose in a space of different possibilities of observing.
