A music school as an important centre of the cultural life

Summary/Abstract: Not only the teacher, but also the local environment in which the school functions play an important role in the process of learners’ music development and their artistic-professional achievements in a music school. An important role is ascribed to engagement and communicativeness of the school principal. His/her openness to the cultural needs of the local environment is significant. On the basis of the music school in Słupsk the author of the article worked in between 1998 and 2004 as a principal and teacher, the cooperation with the local environment is presented in a synthetic way.
