The evolution of ideals and aims of education in musical education of the 20th century in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the article is to present the sources of educational ideals and aims in the Polish musical education in the 20th century on the basis of the analysis of documentary materials. Musical education, apart from formal aims of upbringing accepted in general high schools, used its own, specific and typical educational ideals and aims. The sources of the aims and ideals of education were changing with political changes of the nation and society needs, however, the advantages deriving from timeless values of the musical art determined the ethic and moral borders, irrespective of the social system.
