Summary/Abstract: Within Holocaust historiography two major fields of study have developed: “perpetrator history” as well as studies concerning the Jewish dimension and experience. The article provides a concise overview of the historiography of the Holocaust over the last sixty-five years, placing particular emphasis on the discussion of Jews and the Holocaust. This discussion revolves around three main issues: the centrality of anti- Semitism in the Final Solution; the importance of Jewish voices and sources for an understanding of the Final Solution; and the experience of the Jews not only as victims but as subjects who were living and acting under the Nazi regime. Histories which tell the story of the Holocaust from the Jewish perspective make use of survivor testimony. The author believes that the issue of testimonies will be a dominant feature of Holocaust research and writing in the coming years.
