Summary/Abstract: This article is concerned with Polish Jews’ assimilation into Polishness in the immediate post-war period. The phenomenon is examined in its different dimensions: acculturation, secularization, emancipation and integration as a process is recognized as one of the ways of adaptation for those few who survived the Holocaust. Thus, the article tries to evaluate if assimilation offered people of Jewish origin a cast-iron guarantee of finding their own permanent place in Poland that no one could ever question – as unquestionable as the place of individuals whose parents were “ethnic” Poles.
