Summary/Abstract: Currently, there are only three Roma periodicals in Slovakia, although there had been more of them in past 20 years since the establishment of the Slovak Republic. Most of them, however, shortly after its establishment dissapeared or changed to the newsletter. If we look for a reason, it’s not only about the overall condition of the Roma community, but also about the system od financing minority press in Slovakia. It’s happening despite the fact that the Constitution of the Slovak Republic, under Section 34, guarantees citizens the right of development, in particular the right to cooperate with other minority groups and develop their own culture; to disseminate and receive information in their mother tongue, participate in national associations, foundations and maintain educational and cultural institutions.
