Summary/Abstract: This fourth edition of Basics of Semiotics adds yet two further chapters to the expanded third edition. Chapter 10 synthesizes for introductory purposes the complete history of philosophy I redrew from the standpoint of semiotics in Four Ages of Understanding, while Chapter 11 sets forth the new definition and understanding of “human being” that marks the semiotic transition to the postmodern era. This is, therefore, the most complete edition of the original work to date.
