Keywords: melancholy in Emile Cioran's work;
Summary/Abstract: The author tried to prove that the melancholy is the most frequent "Stimmung" in Cioran's thought, taking into consideration the resources for the irony, with reflections about Romania, the decadent civilisations, the figure of the woman and the musical extasy. Cioran says the eros, the music and the mystique are the unique existential moments that are not spoiled by the original sin; he can only find moments of "reunion with the divinity" through these emotional circumstances. The melancholic perspective of E. Cioran's thought is a fundamental aspect in his existential parable.
