Summary/Abstract: For Homo symbolicus, to maintain the vital balance (through food, sleep etc.) is closely linked with the psychosocial and the anthropological equilibrium. The present paper offers an ethnographic presentation of the cradles chosen by Romanians to lull their offspring asleep and the ways in which these soporific spaces may set off a certain manner of perceiving life itself.
