Fiscal adjustment as a tool for public finance balance maintenance

Summary/Abstract: One of the instruments introduced to fiscal policy tools as a result, among others, of the acceptance of the Fiscal Treaty of 2012, is the fiscal correction mechanism. The implementation of national corrections mechanisms should fulfill the requirements formulated in the message of the European Commission in the form of seven principles. Within the Polish legal framework there are already solutions which fulfill a role that is close to that of the mentioned correction mechanism. These are the constitutional debt fiscal rule and the disciplining expenditure fiscal rule. Both rules are confronted in the article with the new principles of the EU correction mechanisms.
